Terms of use

Effective 2026-07-27

These terms govern your access to and use of Tasmi (the website at tasmi.app and related services). By creating an account, signing in with Google, or using Tasmi in any way, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy.

If you do not agree, do not use Tasmi. Questions: support@tasmi.app.

The service

Tasmi provides Quran recitation practice with automated word-level feedback on the Madani mushaf layout. Parents can manage household student profiles, assign passages, and see practice outcomes. Teachers, when linked by invite, can assign passages and view practice for connected students.

Tasmi compares recitation to canonical text word by word. It does not grade tajweed, makharij, or pronunciation quality. Feedback is a study aid — not a substitute for a qualified teacher, parent supervision, or your own judgment.

Tasmi is offered as a pilot. Features and availability may change. Paid plans, if offered later, will have separate terms shown at checkout.

Tasmi is a homework and at-home practice tool for families — not a school administration system, student information system, or official school record. Teachers in Tasmi are tutors or instructors invited by a family to collaborate on at-home practice; Tasmi does not make teachers school officials under FERPA or similar laws.

Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create a parent or teacher account.
  • Parents are responsible for household student profiles and for how minors use Tasmi on their devices.
  • Teachers may only access students linked through Tasmi's invite flow — not by guessing URLs or credentials. Teacher accounts are for external tutors or instructors working with invited families, not for school-wide classroom administration.
  • One Google account can be both a household parent and a teacher; each role uses the appropriate dashboard (parent or teacher).

Sign-in uses Google only. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure. You must provide accurate information and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access to your Tasmi account.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Tasmi for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms.
  • Attempt to access another household's, teacher's, or student's data without authorization.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems, or bypass access controls.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or bulk-export data except through features we provide.
  • Upload or transmit content that is harmful, harassing, or infringes others' rights.
  • Misrepresent your relationship to a student (for example, linking as a teacher without consent).

We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these terms or posed a risk to the service or other users.

Practice, transcripts, and accuracy

Practice requires microphone access and an internet connection. Audio is sent to our servers and transcribed using a third-party speech-to-text provider; transcripts and feedback results may be imperfect. Tasmi does not guarantee that feedback is complete, error-free, or suitable for any particular religious or educational outcome.

Anonymous practice without sign-in is tied to your browser's device cookie and is not added to a household account when you later sign in. Household practice is attributed to the active student profile. Before first anonymous practice, we ask you to confirm you are at least 18 or a supervising parent or guardian, as described in our Privacy policy.

Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is described in the Privacy policy. By using Tasmi you consent to that processing, including sending practice audio to our servers for transcription and storing transcript text and outcomes as described there.

Intellectual property

Tasmi's software, branding, and site content (excluding third-party Quran text and fonts used under their respective licenses) are owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Tasmi for personal at-home practice in line with these terms.

Quran text and mushaf layout data come from licensed or open sources. You may not extract, redistribute, or commercialize those materials beyond normal use through Tasmi.

Third-party services

Tasmi relies on third-party service providers (including Google for sign-in and speech-to-text providers for transcription). Your use of sign-in services may be subject to their terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

Disclaimers

TASMI IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" DURING THE PILOT, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TASMI AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO TASMI IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tasmi and its operators from claims arising out of your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

Termination

You may stop using Tasmi at any time. We may suspend or discontinue the service or your access with notice where reasonable. Sections that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) survive termination.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Hillsborough County, Florida for disputes arising from these terms, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes may be communicated on sign-in or by email where appropriate.
